Derecktor finally splashes 'Cakewalk'...

Recent Launches

She’s the largest yacht ever to launch in North America. And she’ll be at Fort Lauderdale 2010!

On Sunday morning, August 8, Derecktor Shipyards launched the 85.6m (281ft) six-deck Cakewalk, the largest yacht (by volume) ever built in North America. This 2,998GT motoryacht floated off Derecktor’s new 4,000-ton dry-dock into the waters of Bridgeport Harbor, “Needless to say, as with any project of this scale and sophistication, there were some growing pains along the way, but we think the result speaks for herself,” says Paul Derecktor, president of the Derecktor Group.
MY Cakewalk’s lines were drawn by British stylist Tim Heywood. The naval architecture was down to Dutch firm Azure Naval Architects and the engineering was handled by the UK’s BMT Nigel Gee & Associates and US company Gibbs and Cox. The interior design was by Elizabeth Dalton’s US studio.
The yacht will remain at Derecktor for the next few weeks undergoing final outfitting and sea trials. She is scheduled to make her much-awaited debut at the 2010 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October.
