MCC (Maritime Concept and Construction) in Hong Kong have announced the launch of its second Marco Polo Series 46m MY Mazu at the Cheoy Lee Shipyard in China. 'Mazu' means 'maternal ancestor', but is a colloquial name for a 'goddess of the sea'. Drawn by Ron Holland and engineered by naval architect Kasia Milewska, she has a 9.20m (30ft) beam, draws 2.9m (9ft 6in), has a cruising range of 7,000nm @11 knots and 3,300 nm at 13 knots. Like her sister ship MY Marco Polo, she has single 3512B Caterpillar diesel outputting 1,911hp @ 1,600rpm. Her hull colour is a magnificent Burgundy red.
MCC’s Albrecht Buchner is her project manager.
