Heesen launches ‘Quinta Essentia’...

Recent Launches

Previously known as YN14955, she was built for the owners of the two-year-old Heesen ‘Celestial Hope’. She is the Dutch yard's longest launch to date.

MARCH 2011

Heesen Yachts has launched the first yacht in its new 5500 Series, YN14955 Quinta Essentia. This 24-knot semi-displacement all-aluminium 790GT 55m (180ft) launched at the shipyard in Oss, The Netherlands on Friday, March 11. She is the yard's longest launch to date.
Built for the owners of the two-year-old Heesen Celestial Hope, she is actually the longest Heesen to launch thus far, but not the biggest in terms of displacement (450 tonnes); at 525 tons, the steel/ali 50m (164ft) Sky that launched last year has her beat. However, she is the most powerful; she’s pushed along by twin 4,300kW MTU 20V4000 M93Ls at up to 24 knots. Her hard chine hull and the rest of the naval architecture was down to Heesen’s in-house team and Van Oossanen Associates. Her range is around 4,500nm at 12 knots.
With external lines by Heesen regular Frank Laupman and his Omega Architects studio, this first 5500 has a two-tone (oyster-white and metallic-merlot) exterior paint job. The design incorporates assorted balconies, a swimming pool and waterfall aft, and a portside-opening flooding/drive-in garage; a novel solution, but not one suspects a very practical one, as it is certain to be unsafe in anything other than a flat-calm anchorage or berth with side room. The mother vessel’s colour scheme and styling details are repeated on the limousine tender, which was designed by Vripack and custom built in New Zealand by Vaudrey Miller.ABS has been handling the classification.
Her cool modern interior scheme was originated by Ken Freivokh and decorated by Michela Reverberi. The sale and project management were down to Sergei Dobroserdov of Nakhimov. Her official launch party was in mid-March. She will be available for charter.
