She’s a Bill Dixon-drawn 100ft deck-saloon sloop; her handover is imminent.

JUNE 2011

New Zealand-based yard Yachting Developments’ has launched Antares III, previously referred to as yard number YD69 o project name ‘Meteor’. She’s a 30m (100ft) deck-saloon sloop with composite construction (eglass/carbon/aramid) and a fixed keel. Resplendent with dark-blue hull, she’s the yard’s first project with British designer Bill Dixon. The build programme was intensive for this project – just 17 months in all – two months for the plug and 15 months from start of lamination to imminent handover to her European owner.
SY Antares III was project managed by Patrick Yeoward.
Rhoades Young was responsible for the guest areas, which make use of blonde teak for walls and wide walnut planking for soles; the effect is ‘contemporary comfort’, but practical. The Dixon Yacht Design studio did the overall space planning and handled the interior design for the crew quarters for four.
