Recent Launches

She’s a Sergio Cutolo-designed Colombus 177.

JUNE 2011

The technical launch of MY Prima, a 53.4m (175ft) steel/aluminum motoryacht, took place at Cantieri Palumbo in Naples, Italy, on June 20. Her exterior design and naval architecture were down to Sergio Cutolo (Hydrotech). She has a 10.2m (33ft 6in) maximum beam, a full-load displacement of around 720 tonnes, and a Tommaso Spadolini-conceived interior for 12 guests in six cabins and up to 12 crew in a further six cabins.
She is pushed along by a pair of 1,500kW (2,000hp) MTU 12V4000 M63s and is good for a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a 15-knot maximum cruise.
MY Prima was built in compliance with ABS rules and is suitable for unrestricted navigation. She also obtained RINA Green Plus certification.
Delivery will be in July.
She was built for Palumbo’s Columbus Yachts initiatve. Presently another Colombus 180 is under construction at the yard and Sergio Cutolo and his Hydrotech studio have worked up various other yacht concepts from 38-75m (125-246ft) for Colombus/Palumbo.
The technical launch of Prima is an important milestone for Palumbo, which last year acquired two shipyards in Malta, one of which will be fully dedicated to superyacht refitting.
