She’s YN15437, the 37m ‘Aurelia’. Wonderfully different!

JUNE 2011

Project managed by Nakhimov, Aurelia is the 10th of Heesen’s successful all-aluminium 30-knot Frank Laupman/Omega-drawn ‘37m Class’ and is particular noteworthy for her exterior paint scheme inspired by Gulf-sponsored Porshe 917 endurance race team colours of the early '70s, complete with a racecar-style No10 on her quarters that relates to the hull number. Dobroserdov Design repeated this decal on the 14ft Castoldi tender to celebrate the owner’s passion for sport and racing cars.
In fact the whole yacht is inspired by sportscars and motor racing: the name that she bears is a tribute to the first ever GT Lancia Aurelia. And the automotive theme is carried throughout the Bannenberg & Rowell-conceived interior. For instance all three guest cabins are named after sportscar designers ‒ Bertone (Lamborghini orange), Pininfarina (Ferrari red), and Zagato (Aston Martin green).
Her specification includes a pair of Seakeeper gyro-stabilizers.
MY Aurelia will be on show at the 2011 Cannes Festival de la Plaisance in early September.

And a shot of two of the owner's racars that were on display at the launching ceremony, both in the same light-blue and orange livery...
