Pendennis christens ‘Vava II’...

Recent Launches

At 96m she ranks as the largest private yacht to have ever launched in the UK. The client is America's Cup protagonist Ernesto Bertarelli, a minority shareholder in the Falmouth, Cornwall yard.

Saturday, September 10, saw Vava II christened in the UK at the Royal Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. Formerly known as ‘Devonport Project 55’, this 96m (315ft) steel/aluminium motoryacht is the largest privately owned yacht ever to be built in the UK.
Her exterior styling is by Redman Whitely Dixon and her interior design by Remi Tessier.
Her captain and owners’ representative is Brendan O'Shannassy, who says she “retains the vision of the designers without compromise"; if true, that’s a rare achievement indeed.
Builder Pendennis, who recently rebranded its Devonport Yachts operation as Pendennis Plus, will begin her seatrials in October and her handover is expected soon after.
