Oss, the Netherlands-based yard Heesen Yachts launched its YN15747 as Lady Petra on April 28. The clients are Frans Heesen, the yard’s founder, former majority shareholder and retiring chairman, and his wife Petra. This steel/aluminium motoryacht is the eighth in Heesen’s highly successful 47m (154ft) full-displacement series, which was designed by Heesen favourite studio, Frank Laupman’s Omega Architects, and the first to get a Bannenberg & Rowell interior.
“Designing a yacht for someone who has built his shipyard into an industry-leading force is an honour and, at the same time, a great responsibility,” says Dickie Bannenberg, a Bannenberg & Rowell partner. “But we have had a wonderful couple of years working closely with the Heesen family and Heesen team... The guiding inspirations of the décor come from diverse sources including optical geometric studies and shapes inspired by industrial components such as formers and frames... These elements come together to create a dynamic interior concept that is also comfortable, approachable and inviting.”
Frans Heesen’s previous yacht Petra was an all-aluminium 3700 Series.
Over the past three years Heesen Yachts has delivered no fewer than 14 motoryachts from 37-65m (121-213ft), and currently has 11 more under construction with delivery slots stretcching through until ’15.
