She’s MY ‘Kanga’.

JUNE 2012

Wally has launched its first ‘Wallyace’. The 26m (86ft) motoryacht Kanga was craned into the water in Marina di Ravenna on June 25.
This semi-custom composite design – the result of a collaboration between the Wally in-house team, Allseas and Luca Bassani Design – is claimed to sport an ultra-efficient displacement hull form. When compared to other similar size motoryachts, she offers a length-to-beam ratio some 10-15 per cent greater and more as regards waterline length. Note the innovative ‘Wallybow’, said to combine vertical wave-piercing stem with a performance-boosting bulb. Also she has much more freeboard, which not only keeps her safer and drier in rough seas, but also boosts interior volume.
The Wallyace delivers a maximum cruise speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 13 knots. Her range should be 3,000nm at 12 knots and 5,000nm at 9 knots. Her engines are rated for slow speeds – just 1,300rpm, which translates to low vibration, low noise, low consumption, little maintainance and a long service life.
And she has a particularly tough construction. The hull walls are said to be 50 per cent thicker than required for classification by RINA.
MY Kanga will be Med cruising with her owners later this summer.
Two more Wallyaces are under construction – No2 and No3 deliver for late ’12 and spring ’13 respectively.
