The BYD 50 – Best of both worlds?

She has been designed to deliver sparkling performance under sail, as well as up to 20 knots under power; all thanks to a hybrid hull.

Auxiliary power comes from two large outboards concealed beneath a one-piece moulded cover.
The rest of the design is fairly unconventional. She is intended to serve warm-water charter requirements. The idea is that most people will spend their days on deck, which is why the main saloon and galley areas are up there. Note the hardtop and motoryacht style sunpads forward and aft.
Down below is just for cabins and heads.
She won a Millennium Yacht Design Award 2009 category prize during Seatec 2009, Carrara, Italy.
