Mulder’s new Favourites...

The Dutch yard is introducing a new range of all-aluminium motorcruisers that echo its past. The family yard, which first started building boats in '38, began building its ‘Super Favourite’ and ‘Favourite Superior’ designs from the early ‘50s.

Three sizes are on offer ‒ 1400, 1500 and 1600 - corresponding to metric LOAs of 14m (46ft), 15m (49ft) and 16m (52ft). They were developed for the Leiden yard by Guido de Groot and Vripack Naval Architects.
Distinguishing features include smooth appropriately retro lines and a steep bow.
Round-bilge or hard chine hulls are optional, depending on engine choices. The twin-engine options cover displacement/semi-displacement speeds from 10-25 knots and 35-knot planing performance.
The Favourite 1400 currently under construction will be equipped with a twin Volvo Penta IPS600s (435hp). She has a hard-chine hull with spray rails.
Also under construction is a Favourite 1500 with a round-bilged hull and twin Volvo Pentas D6 engines (330hp) and conventional shafts.
These two new Favorite interpretations are expected to be unveiled at the Seaport show in September 2010.
