Ghost Yachts’ planing G180V...

Twin MTU 20V4000s would provide up to 34 knots and the addition of a TF50 gas-turbine and water-jet booster would mean around 40 knots.

MARCH 2010

You’ve seen the displacement version of Ghost Yachts’ G180, the first of which is in build at Jongert. Well here’s the G180V, the high-performance version, made possible by the design’s versatile ‘fast displacement’ hull form which allows a transatlantic capability at 15 knots, but a ppotential top speed of around 40 knots.
Meeting the 500GT size requirements proved to be challenging. The Ghost G180/G180V designs are unusually long for ˂500GT yachts; they were carefully shaped and calculated to stay within the volume parameters. They were designed in cooperation with Gloss Design (IT), with naval architecture inputs by the renowned Dutch firm Van Oossanen & Associates.
The bottom picture shows the G180 and G180V designs side by side.
