K&M wins 88-footer contract...

Design

The commissioning owner is Dutch and the name, quite appropriately, will be ‘Tulip’.

JUNE 2010

A classic sloop above the waterline and thoroughly modern performance yacht beneath, she has been designed by Manni Frers of German Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering in Argentina. The underwater profile is actually quite flat and there’s a lift-keel (draught 5.10-3.20m); so we expect her owner has regatta ambitions.
Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Design will handle the interior.
There will be accommodation for up to six guests and two crew.
A notable feature of the cockpit is the three rotating benches at the helm, which can be turned inwards so that the bottom/back again forms part of the deck. The back rests of the fixed cockpit benches are fitted with glass screens that can be raised to provide extra shelter against the wind and spray.
The owner is planning to go sailing in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean from spring 2012.
