Design

This bold interpretation of the expedition concept was produced for the Hong Kong, China-based company by Sergio Cutolo and his Italian studio Hydro Tec and and bigger and smaller sisters are on their way.

The steel/aluminium 116HT is the first of three Explorer models Hydro Tec has been commissioned to create for the Chinese shipyard. All three Kingship Explorer projects will be presented at the Monaco boat show in September.
The Varazze studio is handling the external lines, as well as the hydrodynamics and engineering. The next two models in the series are a bigger 45m (148ft) and smaller one of 26.5m (87ft); both will share the same family look.
The propulsion choice for the HT116 is twin 600hp Caterpillar C18 Acerts. They should deliver a maximum speed of 13 knots and a range of 7,000nm at a more economical cruise of 11.5 knots.
