Turkish builder Vicem’s beautiful Vanguards - coming soon...

Design

Initially there will be a 45 and subsequently a 33. They were styled inside and out in-house, but the hull shape and naval architecture are down to Michael Peters.

JANUARY 2011

The Vanguard 33 and 45 are based on running surfaces by Michael Peters, but the exterior and interior styling was handled in-house. Note the classic-modern combination of mahogany and the grey, silver and blue palettes. The design team has done a good job.
The Vanguard 45 (pictured) is exquisite. Her hulls and superstructure are epoxy infused. The whole lamination work made use of SP/High Modulus’ B³ SmartPac system – no fewer than six different core materials have found their way into the 45 hull, which has a 20º deadrise and will be properly capable in seas.
The Vanguard 45 will have a dry displacement of 13.5 tonnes and twin 435hp Volvo Penta IPS600s as standard for 34-knots-plus maximum speed; but twin 800hp MAN R6s and Arneson drives is an option for those wanting over 50 knots.
The first Vanguard 45 will begin sea-trials in autumn ’11.
Employing 400 plus and managed by CEO Alberto Perrone Da Zara, Vicem has three production sites – one in Tuzla, near Istanbul, and two in Antalya. It builds from 45ft (13.7m) to 46m (151ft). Perrone Da Zara says the "quality will be very high, but the price point keen".
