Alex McDiarmid’s 100m ‘Duel’...

Design

The inspiration for his latest concept is said to be 17-19th century duelling pistols.

JUNE 2011

Alex McDiarmid’s reverse-bow 100m (2328ft) ‘Concept Duel’ takes her inspiration from 17-19th century duelling pistols. Note how the comms tower is suggestive of pistol hammers and the deep-cut designs down her side mimic the sort of engravings found on some ornate pistols.
One rendering even includes a new take on an old-fashioned bow figurehead.
Alex McDiarmid’s certainly comes at things from a different direction!
