Burger launches the wonderfully nostalgic fantail-motoryacht 'Sycara IV'...

Industry News

Classically styled with the aim of recapturing the opulence, charm and grace of the 1920s, but thoroughly modern in every other respect, this custom 46m (151ft) family yacht was drawn by Bruce King and sports an interior developed by Ken Freivokh and the yard’s in-house team. The owners are Ray and Elsie Catena.

The pictures show the launch party at the yard, just prior to her being dropped into the Manitowoc River by the yard’s 500-tonne Marine Travelift. She was christened by Elsie Catena.
After her final fit-out and sea trials Sycara IV will travel east through the Great Lakes and then south, where she is scheduled to put in an appearance at the 2009 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Thereafter, her relative shallow draught will mean she’ll spend a lot of time in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the Burger Boat Company specialises in custom yachts. It can cope with aluminium or steel/aluminium. It has capacity up to 60m (200ft).
The Catena's previous 'Sycara' was Sycara III (ex-Mercedes III), the 56.5m (185ft) contemporary motoryacht drawn by Jon Bannenberg and launched from Oceanfast '03 — so a very different prospect entirely.
