The Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw (Royal De Vries) in Holland recently launched Hull No680 in the presence of hundreds of invited guests and yard employees.

She has been built for an experienced owner who was looking to upgrade from his current yacht. At the time of the launch the hull was covered in a grey coating that will protect the superb high gloss colour until final delivery after her sea trials are completed.
The project took three years from initial contact to completion, The naval architecture was handled as usual for Feadships by the in-house team at De Voogt. Clifford Denn did the exterior styling. And François Zuretti produced the interior scheme, which is said to have been influenced by the ‘glory days of yachting’. Unusually the whole yacht is said to have evolved around those earliest interior choices.
The owners’ team included Camper & Nicholsons International’s Neil Cheston and John Bilesky. The project manager was Rob de Vries.
She provides superlative accommodation for just 10 including owners and four guest suites, served by no fewer than 23 crew in 13 cabins under her captain George Overend.
“Normally we start a project with some general specifications, then draw the lines, make a GA and design the interior,” says yard managing director Henk de Vries. “But in this case we received a very detailed specification and interior design from François Zuretti and our challenge was to create a hull around that while incorporating all the elements that one expects from a Feadship. And all that had to be achieved within the parameters of Clifford Denn’s sophisticated profile.”
