Perini Navi Group launches ‘Panthalassa’...

Industry News

Co-designed by the operation’s in-house naval architects and Ron Holland's studio, this aluminium ketch is the 47th unit in the Perini Navi fleet and No8 of the 56m series; but note her streamlined superstructure is completely new.

SY Panthalassa has a maximum displacement of 540 tonnes.
Her Perini engineered masts are aluminium − the main mast is 58.8m (192ft) and the mizzen 48.26m (157ft). The furling booms are carbonfibre.
The total sail area is around 1,500m².
The Foster + Partners scheme for the interior is said to have been based on ‘well-being and harmony’. A key component of the interior scheme was the natural light distributed by three large sky lights and an elliptical aerial central staircase.
The lower deck is totally different from all the other 56m layouts. Instead of an obvious owners’ cabin, it provides six similar-size cabins for a
maximum of 12 guests.
Perini Navi has done very well with the 56m Series. The first one Burrasca launched in 2003, and was then followed by Santa Maria
(now Zenji), Rosehearty, Selene, Salute Silvana and Riela. And the next years will see another two delivered.
Besides those two 56m Series boats, Perini Navi’s production plan 2009-2013 will include two 45m steel yachts, the second aluminium (Sealium) 38m, one 59m aluminium project and three steel/aluminium motoryachts − the Vitruvius 50m, 55m and a 73m.
