Asia-Pacific superyacht association to form...

Industry News

Some 25 industry professionals met at PIMEX 2010 in early January and agreed there was a need, over and above various national bodies operating in the region – notably those in Australia, Singapore and Indonesia.

The attendees (above photo) felt more needed to be done to make yacht owners and their captains more aware of this ‘third cruising destination’.
Therefore, a major objective of this new association would be to communicate the unique benefits of the region to the world superyacht fleet. Plus efforts need to be coordinated to open more territorial waters to visiting yachts.
A regional association could play a major role in lobbying governments and explaining the economic benefits that visiting superyachts would bring to the region.
Initial plans for the association are being created and a further meeting will take place in Singapore in April, after which it is hoped that the association will be formalized and begin work.
Anyone wishing to join the association can contact the Superyacht Singapore Association, Thai Marine Business Association or The Indonesian Superyacht Association for more information.
