Industry News

This 36.6m (120ft) steel/aluminium twin-screw displacement trideck motoryacht is being built by Spain’s Astilleros Mcies (Oassive Custom Yachts).

FEBRUARY 2010

The exterior styling comes from Italproject, while the naval architecture and engineering are all down to the builder’s own in-house team. The maximum beam is 8.2m (27ft) and propulsion comes from C32 Cats.
The vessel will be built to Germanischer Lloyd rules and comply with the MCA Large Yacht Code. Delivery is scheduled for late 2010.
MCies currently has two facilities in Vigo: one in Fragosito and the other in Ríos, where its technical offices are based. The capacity of the two facilities allows the company to work with boats with LOAs up to 70m (230ft), beams up to 14m (46ft) and weights of up to 1,500 tonnes. The two facilities employ the company’s 95-strong workforce. Most of its experience is commercial, but pleasureboat work in recent years includes the delivery of three motoryachts ‒ one 40m (131ft), one 43m (141ft) and one 45.5m.
The Mcies Shipyard is being marketed by Alf Agius’s Privilege Yacht International consultancy.
