Groupe Bénéteau forecasts...

Industry News

Its recently issued figures for the first six months of its ‘09/10 year show a growth of 6.1%; but its boat business (+1.2%) performed less well than its pre-fab homes interests (+15.3%). However, the giant's expectations are still good for the rest of the year.

APRIL 2010

The French company reports sales for the six months from Sept 1-Mar 31 grew to €253.1m, up by 6.1 per cent on the period the year before. Of that boats accounted for €175.5 million, but the growth there was just 1.2 per cent on the previous period, which reflected the full force of the economic crisis.
What's more Groupe Bénéteau is forecasting a 17% increase in turnover to €771 million for its full year to the end of August ‘10. Of that, boats are expected to account for €568 million, which would mean a growth of 14.9%. It has to be said that last forecast rally in the second half of the year seems rather bullish; let's hope the forecasters are right!. Groupe Bénéteau is the world's biggest sailboat builder and one of the biggest boatbuilding group's in the world; growth there is good for all of us.
New-model development is said to be at the heart of its recovery.
Of its boat business, overall two-thirds comes from sailboat sales and one-third from powerboat sales.
