Schooner 'Athos' now rigged

Industry News

Late April saw mast and spar builder Rondal completed the rigging job at Zaandam, Holland-based builder HJB's canalside facility. Her two carbon masts are 61m and 54m respectively.

The mighty Athos is now close to completion at HJB (Holland Jachtbouw).
This André Hoek-designed centerboard schooner is not only the yard’s biggest new-build project to date, but also she numbers among the world’s biggest schooners — although she will still be able to pass beneath the ‘Bridge of the Americas’ on the Panama Canal, an important consideration as she is intended for world-cruising. She measures 55.9m (183ft) over the deck and the sprit takes her LOA to 62m (203ft). Her displacement is around 370 tonnes.
Her classification is Bureau Veritas/MCA.
