Yachting Development’s ‘Dixon 100’...

Industry News

She’s a composite deck-saloon sloop on a tight schedule.

JUNE 2010

This new-build project is ‘YD69’. A 30m (100ft) composite deck-saloon sloop with a fixed keel, she’s the yard’s first project with British designer Bill Dixon. Delivery to her European owner is scheduled for March 2011, which means a very intensive build programme of just 14 months, two months for the plug and 12 months from start of lamination to handover.
Presently everything is on track with the project, which incidentally is being managed by Patrick Yeoward. Eventually to be dark blue, her hull was turned over in early June, so the fit out of her interior has just begun. Rhoades Young is responsible for the guest areas, which make use of blonde teak for walls and wide walnut planking for soles; the effect is ‘contemporary comfort’, but practical. Beyond handling the naval architecture and exterior styling,
Dixon Yacht Design has done the overall space planning and handled the interior design for the crew quarters for four.
