New ‘J’ Rainbow begins fit-out...

Industry News

She crossed Holland's Ijsselmeer by barge from Makkum-based F Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw, which fabricated her hull and deck, and is now inside at HJB, Zaandam.

JULY 2010

Zwartsluis-based HEBO took care of the transport across the IJsselmeer and through Amsterdam.
SY Rainbow, which will carry the sail number JH2, is a Dijkstra & Partners Naval Architects translation of the original William Starling Burgess designed yacht of the same name. Gerry Dijkstra and team have been involved in the new-builds/re-builds/refits of several other ‘Js’ ‒ including Shamrock V, Endeavour, Velsheda, Ranger and the recently launched Hanuman.
Early 2012 should see Rainbow launched at Holland Jachtbouw (HJB) and rigged. Immediately afterwards test sailing and crew training will commence off Ijmuiden. Her first races will be off Falmouth and Cowes that summer.
She will be available for day-charters during the Olympic Games in England.
