Second facility for Mulder...

Industry News

Work begins soon on a new plant that will boost capacity to 40m (131ft).

Holland’s Mulder Shipyard is soon to begin construction of a new yard just 10km from its current facility in Voorschoten. This second yard in Zoeterwoude Rijndijk will provide 7,000m2 (75,300ft2) of under cover area and will focus on the maintaining, refitting and new-building yachts from 18-40m (131ft). It should be ready to start operations in 2012, which will mean its first launch will be in 2013. The existing facilities will remain open and focus on yachts under 18m (59ft) and include production of the Favorite and Bellagio models. Both Mulder yards are within 20 minutes of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The first hall of the new yard will be equipped with two dry docks of 55x13m (180x43ft). The second hall can accommodate the simultaneous construction of four yachts up to 30m (98ft). The projects in this hall will be accessible via three work floors. The ground floor will be used for working on engines, generators, propulsion systems, bowthrusters, sternthrusters, stabilisers and similar equipment, and include a store room. The first floor will facilitate the assembly of the interior, service installations and electrical systems, and house Mulder’s interior department and spraying facilities. The new yard will also include a 100-tonne boat lift and a modern office building.
Although the expansion requires a substantial investment, it will eventually lead to major cost savings. In addition to new builds and refit activities, the new yard will also provide services for the growing Mulder fleet.
