Allied Marine opens Newport office...

Industry News

It will be managed by Jim Mattingly.

JANUARY 2011

The primary distributor for various Ferretti Group brands in North America, Allied Marine has strategically expanded its operations in the North East with the opening of a new office in Newport, Rhode Island, that key yachting hub. Noted for its harbour front homes and classic New England architecture, the Brown & Howard Marina provides an attractive backdrop for this downtown office, the company’s sixth location in the US.
The Newport office will represent Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Riva, Mochi Craft and CRN throughout the states of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as handle brokerage business in the region. For some of the year it will work in concert with the Allied Marine office in Sag Harbor, which primarily supports New York and Long Island; that location is only open from May to September. Allied Marine is part of the Ferretti Group.
Established in 1945, Allied Marine is one of the oldest and most established yacht dealers and brokerage houses in North America and it claims to offer the largest inventory and listings of new and brokerage yachts over 50ft in the USA. It is headquartered in Miami, Florida, just across the road from that other Ferretti Group division, Bertram, which incidentally won’t be represented by the Newport office; as a well-established US sports-fishing boat brand it has its own arrangements.
Hugely experience sailor Jim Mattingly will run the Newport location. He brings a wealth of expertise with him. His previous roles include sales and marketing director at Palmer Johnson and Derecktor and Newport agent for Nautor’s Swan; not to mention Ted Turner’s crew boss and watch captain during three America’s Cup campaigns.
