Overmarine Group signs with MarineMax in the USA...

Industry News

Initially the massive boat sales operation will promote just Mangusta, but eventually it is expected to the same for its recently acquired Di Pisa/Akhir and Baglietto brands.

FEBRUARY 2011

MarineMax has been appointed as exclusive North America distributor for Italy’s Overmarine Group, which now builds and markets not only Overmarine’s longstanding Mangusta motoryacht brand, but also Di Pisa and Baglietto. The deal was announced by Francesco Frediani , Overmarine’s commercial director, at a press conference held at the 2011 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show on February 17.
MarineMax will initially promote the nine-model 22-62.5m (72-205ft) all-composite Mangusta range of sports-yachts via its 55 strategic retail locations throughout the USA. But eventually the arrangement will also include the 27-47m (90-153ft) all-composite Di Pisa/Akhir flybridge motoryacht range and the 30-44m (98-144ft) all-aluminium semi-displacement Bagliettos and the 42-60m (138-197ft) steel/aluminium displacement Bagliettos.
The Overmarine Group, which is located on a prime site in Viareggio is controlled by the Balducci family.
Up until a couple of years ago Overmarine built its Mangustas, but relied on an exclusive arrangement with the Rodgriguez Group to sell them. However, since that agreement fell apart owing to the latter Gulf Juan, Cote d’Azur-based operation’s financial and management troubles, Overmarine has been selling directly.
Last summer saw Overmarine acquire from bankrupcy the Baglietto yards in La Spezia and Varazze and the Cantieri Di Pisa yard, which is just outside Pisa.
The world’s largest marine retailer, MarineMax is quoted on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange).
