Keel-laying ceremony for Kingship’s ‘Green Voyager’...

Industry News

This 44m motoryacht is billed as the world’s first truly hybrid superyacht between 24-50m (80-164ft).

APRIL 2011

Following the first announcements of the project made last year, Kingship Marine held the keel-laying ceremony for its hybrid 43.9m (144ft) Green Voyager on April 19 at its yard in Zhongshan, China.
MY Green Voyager is for the owner seeking a go-anywhere motoryacht with the minimum or environmental impact, says designer Horacio Bozzo of the Axis Yacht Design Group. And she is billed as the first superyacht in the world under 50m (164ft) to get a true hybrid system: twin 1,081kW (1,450hp) 3406E DITA Cats, two 85kW generators, lithium-phosphate battery bank and Siemens ‘Ecoprop’ package – one shaft generator and an 180kW electric motor on each gearbox.
This project’s plumb bow is not just matter of style. This hull geometry will reduce slamming and will deliver an efficient passage through the waves. Indeed, this hull’s efficiency is said to be 18 per cent better than a conventional displacement motoryacht’s hull.
She is scheduled to be delivered in 2013 with a Kingship-conceived interior.
