Rondal ships A-frame masts for Greenpeace’s ‘Rainbow Warrior III’...

Industry News

The tallest of them measures 50m.

JULY 2011

Royal Huisman daughter company Rondal, the yacht systems and hardware specialist, has shipped the two massive A-frame aluminium masts that it has built for the new Gerry Dijkstra-designed 58m (190ft) Rainbow Warrior III, Greenpeace’s first-ever purpose-built vessel. The masts have been transported by barge to the Fassmer yard in Germany, where the vessel is already afloat and nearing completion.
The A-frame masts allow for efficient sail management, carry sufficient sail area to drive Rainbow Warrior III at up to 10 knots, and keep surrounding decks clear of rigging; a helicopter will be able to land on her aft-deck.
