Turkish builder Vicem has appointed ex-Little Harbor and Grand Banks executive Bruce Livingston as its production director.

MARCH 2009

Turkish builder Vicem has appointed Bruce Livingston Jnr as its production director.
Livingston’s impressive career spans more than three decades. Early highlights include his time as project manager for Coddington Yachts in Rhode Island and subsequently 14 years spent as general manager for Little Harbor Custom Yachts in Taipei, Taiwan, and its sister operations, Little Harbor Marine Enterprises and Ted Hood Yacht Builders. In this latter role he was responsible for establishing several contract building and factory operations in Taiwan, Singapore and the US that between them employed at their peak well in excess of 200 people and during his tenure delivered more than 100 yachts between 13-23m (42-75ft).
His accomplishments with Little Harbor led to his appointment as plant manager at Grand Banks Yachts for the company’s operations in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia, a position he held for close to a decade. During this time, he helped develop Grand Bank’s facilities significantly, doubling production in his first three years and boosting the sophistication of the finished boats considerably. Plus he set up a product development department to produce new models, among them the Grand Banks Eastbay 58 FB and 47 FB, and helped establish a sub-contracting department to build all component parts for other factories in the Grand Banks group.
“Bruce Livingston is one of the most respected professionals in yacht building with a long history of accomplishments in shipyard operations and management worldwide,” said Sebahattin Hafizoglu, founder and president of Vicem Yachts. “His leadership skills, production experience, financial savvy and knack for developing innovative systems and policies will help take the company to a new and higher level.”
Based close to Istanbul, Vicem – which incidentally is pronounced ‘vee-cham’ – is a builder of classic-style motoryachts, sport-fishers and cruisers from 50-150ft (15-46m); its first Vicem 150 is in build at the moment.
