Gianni Zuccon honoured...


The famous Italian yacht designer received the ‘Boating Pioneer 2010’ award at the recent SATEC 2010 meeting in Genoa over May 28-29.

UCINA, the Italian marine industries federation, presents this annual award to ‘an individual within the recreational boating and yachting sector for their leadership and contribution to global sector growth and development’.
Giovanni Zuccon was born in Rome in 1944. In ‘76 he started working in the Posillipo yacht yards in Sabaudia and later moved to the Baglietto's Varazze site. In ’84, with his wife, the designer Paola Galeazzi, he founded Zuccon International Project, an industrial and yacht design studio. And his company has been working with some of the best Italian yards ever since, most notably since ’90 with Ferretti Group and its Ferretti Yachts, Custom Line, CRN, Bertram and Mochi Craft operations and with Apreamare, when it was part of the aforementioned group and still. In recent years especially, Zuccon projects have earned Gianni, Paola and the studio many other awards in Italy and abroad.
Giovanni Zuccon is also an Associate Professor of Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture ‘Ludovico Quaroni’ of the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’.
