Archipelago Yacht to launch 40m schooner this autumn...

Yard Updates

The Bodrum, Turkey-based yard’s building her for a UK client.

JANUARY 2010

Bodrum, Turkey-based Archipelago Yacht will launch a 40m (131ft) cold-moulded wooden schooner this autumn. Catering for upto 14 guests and eight crew, this traditional-style classic, SY ZanZiba, is under construction for a UK owner, who plans to make her available for charter and is considering having more similiar vessels built using the same yard and creative team. Her exterior and interior were conceived by British big-yacht designer David Waite-Wright and his David Wright Design studio in Titchfield, Hampshire. The naval architecture has been the responsibility of Turkey's Alparslan Tekogul, supported by Paul Spooner of British yard Fairlie Restorations.
A key feature will be her deckhouse and its spectacular views. The interior will have a colonial theme ‒ a mix of teak, burr oak and zebrano veneers accented by bronze and nickel fittings.
